Ozone technology is known as the "green disinfection solution", mainly due to its environmental-friendly attributes, which are specifically reflected in the following aspects:


Firstly, ozone disinfection has the feature of no secondary pollution. During the disinfection process, ozone rapidly decomposes into oxygen without generating harmful residual substances. For instance, when dealing with organic pollutants, ozone degrades the pollutants through direct oxidation or decomposition to produce hydroxyl radicals, and the final products are mostly carbon dioxide and water, thus avoiding the formation of persistent toxic by-products that may result from traditional disinfection methods.


Secondly, ozone disinfection leaves no residue. As ozone is inherently unstable, it decomposes on its own after completing the disinfection process, without accumulating any residue in the environment or the treated objects. This is particularly important in drinking water treatment and wastewater disinfection, ensuring water safety and not affecting subsequent ecological processes.


In addition, ozone technology does not introduce any foreign chemicals during the treatment process. Unlike some disinfectants that require the addition of chemical agents and may produce disinfection by-products (such as the formation of trichloromethane in chlorination), ozone directly destroys the structure of microorganisms or degrades organic matter by virtue of its strong oxidizing property, reducing the use of additional chemicals and their potential risks. Moreover, ozone disinfection is broad-spectrum and highly efficient. It can effectively inactivate bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms, and shows good degradation effects on various organic pollutants. For instance, studies have shown that ozone and its combined processes have good removal capabilities for typical pollutants such as antibiotics and chlorophenols, enhancing treatment efficiency and avoiding selective limitations.


Finally, the application of ozone technology helps to promote the subsequent biological remediation process. Although high concentrations of ozone may temporarily inhibit the activity of local microorganisms, the oxygen-rich environment formed by the treatment can enhance the reproduction of aerobic microorganisms in the surrounding soil or water, thereby improving the efficiency of biodegradation and achieving a synergistic effect in environmental restoration. Therefore, ozone technology is regarded as an environmentally friendly "green disinfection solution" due to its characteristics of no secondary pollution, no residue, no introduction of harmful chemicals, high efficiency and broad spectrum, and the potential to promote ecological recovery.
